Mudra - Installation at C.G.U.

This site-specific installation was created during my first summer in Claremont. I was transitioning from my first year to my second year in graduate school. Many evenings were spent walking around the five college campus and meditating while sitting on the vast expanses of grass. The show included 32 teflon coated fiberglass fabric panels 16 feet tall by 38 inches wide. Each was hung from the ceiling to form a parameter around the large gallery. The panels were stained with watered down acrylic paint. Objects where placed on top of the fabric during the staining process to influence pooling of pigment into natural patterns during the slow process of evaporation. Three found logs were added: one I covered with a soft malleable lead (also found), the other two with blue/green and gray wax. Three small bags coated with red powered pigment were hung from the ceiling. The space overall was mediative and peaceful.
